RUSAL Replaces Imported Software in Anode Production
The company no longer depends on foreign software platforms for the process.

RUSAL has developed its own specialized software for managing anode production, replacing foreign systems previously used for the task. Company engineers eliminated dependence on imported software in this segment, and the new platform has already been deployed at the Sayanogorsk Aluminum Smelter.
“Anode baking is the most complex and
energy-intensive stage of electrode production — it is where efficiency is
either achieved or lost. During the modernization of the Sayanogorsk plant’s
furnaces, we managed to develop our own software for automatic burner and
furnace control systems without access to the original source code or technical
support. We cut our dependence on foreign software vendors and can now scale
this platform to other anode-production facilities,” said RUSAL Technical
Director Viktor Mann.
Company specialists say the transition gives RUSAL far greater operational flexibility. Engineers can now quickly modify the software when needed, which is also expected to improve production processes.
