Russia Plans to Introduce AI Classes in Schools and Colleges

Russian lawmakers are pushing to integrate artificial intelligence education into the national school curriculum, starting from the earliest grades.
Lawmakers in Russia's State Duma have proposed adding artificial intelligence (AI) courses to the curriculum in schools and colleges, according to TASS. The initiative calls for a unified national system of online clubs and supplementary classes focused on AI, building on pilot programs already running in select institutions.
Some schools and colleges have already launched extracurricular activities and workshops where students learn to use neural networks. Under the new proposal, children would begin AI education in elementary school, with more advanced lessons continuing into vocational colleges and technical schools.
In parallel, another Russian expert has suggested placing greater emphasis on cybersecurity education. He argues that traditional computer science classes no longer provide practical value and do little to protect students from online threats. Instead, he recommends replacing them with courses that teach the fundamentals of internet safety.
Even now, students are actively using AI tools to help with test prep and term papers. The technology is automating repetitive tasks and giving students more room for creativity and deeper exploration of their subjects.
