Russia’s First Digital Civil Registry Assistant Launches in Sverdlovsk Region

The Sverdlovsk region has launched Russia’s first digital service that lets couples planning to marry remotely explore their chosen wedding ceremony hall before the ceremony.

The assistant was developed by the regional Civil Registry Office together with Russia’s Federal Tax Service. After a couple submits an application through Gosuslugi, they receive confirmation that it has been accepted along with a link to a video of their chosen registry office. The video shows the ceremony hall’s layout, space for guests and good angles for photos and video. The virtual tour is also available on the regional Civil Registry Office website.

Making government services more accessible is one of the priorities set by Sverdlovsk Region Governor Denis Pasler, including through the introduction of new digital services.

“The digital assistant lets couples see the ceremony hall in advance, assess the space available for guests and plan photography and video without making an additional trip to the registry office,” said Tatyana Sevryuk, head of the Sverdlovsk Region Civil Registry Office.

Sevryuk said digitization not only reduces the need for in-person visits but also helps people save time and prepare in advance for one of the most important events in their lives.
