Russia to Build Europe’s Largest Construction Innovation Test Site
A massive innovation hub for the construction industry will open in Moscow’s SberCity project, focusing on smart materials, digital control systems, and automation across all building stages.
Russia has announced plans to create Europe’s largest testing ground for advanced construction technologies within the SberCity development in Moscow. The initiative was unveiled at the Moscow Startup Summit, where the Moscow Innovation Cluster Foundation and Rublyovo-Arkhangelskoye, a developer under the Sber group, signed a cooperation agreement.
The new site will serve as a live testing environment for cutting-edge digital systems—such as smart building management, automated construction and logistics solutions, and energy-efficient materials. It will also host experiments in accelerated design and 3D concrete printing for structural elements, as well as trials of “smart” façades equipped with solar panels.
According to project organizers, the test site will allow large-scale trials and integration of next-generation urban technologies. SberCity, already positioned as a hub for technological innovation, will provide the ecosystem for piloting solutions that can later be deployed across real city infrastructure.
Experts say the project will strengthen Moscow’s role as a global magnet for tech companies while enhancing urban sustainability and residents’ quality of life through smart-city solutions.
