Russian software developer Astra Group and biometric technology provider Inforser Inzhiniring have completed the deployment of Astra Linux Embedded on the Laym5V system board. The joint platform supports four products: a passport-reading terminal, a biometric tablet, a facial imaging system, and a fingerprint scanning terminal.

Fully Domestic Stack

The result is a fully localized platform built entirely on domestic hardware and software. Astra Linux Embedded includes built-in information security features that comply with secure development standards set by Russia’s Federal Service for Technical and Export Control. The Laym5V system can be used in smart devices, industrial automation, the Internet of Things, and computer vision applications.

According to Inforser Inzhiniring CEO Alexey Prelovsky, it is critical that Russian hardware platforms run on domestic software. Both companies plan to maintain compatibility with other Russian hardware models.
