Russian Platform Uses AI and 3D Modeling to Streamline Diamond Exploration

A new Russian software system could revolutionize diamond exploration by replacing guesswork with geodata-driven precision.

The company Pomor Region Diamonds has developed Proex-Geology, an advanced digital platform designed to help locate diamond deposits more efficiently. The system integrates and analyzes massive volumes of geodata, offering a smarter approach to geological prospecting.

Traditional exploration techniques often rely on blind drilling, where hundreds of boreholes are sunk with minimal certainty. Proex-Geology, by contrast, identifies promising areas with higher accuracy, significantly reducing both cost and time.

Unlike many foreign tools that function as isolated modules, the Russian-made Proex-Geology creates a unified digital environment. It combines geochemical, geophysical, and cartographic data into a single platform, enabling precise predictions. The software can build a 3D model of underground structures, revealing both depth and shape. This allows geologists to select optimal drilling points, minimizing excavation and conserving resources.

Remarkably, the system requires only eight specialists to operate—where traditional geological surveys used to involve full-scale expeditions.
