Moscow Is Hosting a Massive Expo on Its High-Tech Urban Future

This August, Russia will launch an immersive exhibition exploring the next-generation technologies that promise to reshape Moscow. Dubbed “That Very Moscow”, the event will span over 11,000 square meters at the city’s iconic Manege Central Exhibition Hall.
Running from August 1 to 31, the expo invites visitors to step into a speculative-yet-grounded future — one already quietly unfolding. The city will showcase its latest innovations in transport, urban planning, and industrial automation, merging what’s coming with what’s already here.
One of the standout features: an open-air tech zone where guests can test eight simulators of urban vehicles and heavy construction equipment — a first for exhibitions of this scale in Russia. Inside Manege, expect around ten thematic zones and 50+ exhibits focused on advanced industrial tech.
And yes, Moscow has plenty to flex.
Soon, its streets will welcome the autonomous tram 71-911EM “Lyonok-Moscow”. The prototypes have already clocked 5,000 kilometers, and according to Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, the city plans to roll out autonomous tech across most of its tram network by 2030.
Moscow is also piloting a crewless watercraft for the Moskva River, and next up: an AI-powered train, with smart systems handling acceleration, braking, and even the doors.
The future isn’t arriving — in Moscow, it’s already pulling into the station.
