Telecom Operators in Russia Open a Window to the Digital World
Telecommunications companies in Russia are evolving into high-tech IT projects.

Russia’s telecom sector accelerated its digital transformation in 2025 and is increasingly moving beyond traditional connectivity services. Operators are betting on IT platforms, data analytics, artificial intelligence, and partner ecosystems, said Aleksandr Mnatsakanyan, deputy chief executive for strategic planning at T2.
Digital Companies
According to him, telecom is becoming less of a purely infrastructure-based industry. Operators are turning into digital companies that work with data, services, and customer experience.
Analytics, Automation, and AI
IT technologies play a key role in this transformation. Operators are actively deploying big data analytics and automation, helping them adapt products more quickly to customer behavior and reduce operating costs. Particular attention is being paid to artificial intelligence.
Infrastructure Partnerships
Another growth area is infrastructure IT partnerships. Sharing networks and frequencies makes it possible to improve efficiency without duplicating equipment. According to the expert, such technology alliances can cut operating and capital expenditures by up to 30 percent. The freed-up resources are then directed toward developing digital services.
Finance and Advertising
A separate focus is being placed on advertising and financial technologies. Telecom operators are moving into AdTech and fintech, using their own IT platforms and analytics. Generative AI is being applied to personalize advertising and automate media planning.
The company believes that IT, data, and AI will form the foundation for the industry’s sustainable growth.
