Aquarius, Baikal Electronics and Astra Group Set to Build Unified Russian Hardware-Software Ecosystem Around Baikal Processors

At the CIPR-2026 conference, Aquarius, Baikal Electronics and Astra Group announced plans to jointly develop a unified ecosystem of fully Russian hardware-software platforms based on Baikal-family processors for enterprise customers and critical information infrastructure facilities.

The joint initiative is expected to create a unified infrastructure stack for the Russian market that combines hardware platforms, processor architecture and system software into a single environment. Under the plan, Aquarius server and client hardware will be developed with the architectural characteristics of Baikal processors in mind, while Astra Linux and virtualization platforms will undergo a full cycle of adaptation, optimization and validation directly on target hardware configurations.

The approach is intended to remove the need for customers to integrate fragmented products from multiple vendors independently while reducing the risks associated with that process, including unpredictable performance levels, hidden compatibility issues, overlapping responsibility zones and lengthy debugging cycles. Over time, enterprise users and operators of critical information infrastructure are expected to gain access to a ready-to-deploy, verified and fully supported infrastructure environment with unified architecture, end-to-end support and a predictable lifecycle.

“As a hardware manufacturer, we see Baikal processors as a reliable domestic platform because the developer continues to improve both the architectural maturity and overall quality of the product line. These processors support a broad range of applications, from client devices to servers, storage systems and networking platforms. Aquarius is prepared to operate as a full-cycle vendor covering the development and production of solutions based on Baikal processors, technical support and joint product commercialization,” said Oleg Kopitsyn, CEO of Aquarius Group.
“We want our processors to be perceived not as a component that needs adaptation, but as the core element shaping the engineering logic of the entire infrastructure stack. Early access to roadmaps and reference designs that we provide to partners allows development cycles to stay synchronized years in advance. As a result, enterprise customers will be able to rely not on short-term system assembly, but on a predictable long-term roadmap for their IT environments built on a Russian technology stack,” said Andrey Yevdokimov, CEO of Baikal Electronics.
“Our goal is to ensure seamless and efficient operation of application environments on target hardware platforms. We plan to go beyond basic compatibility testing and adapt Astra Linux and our virtualization stack to the architectural characteristics of specific Aquarius devices powered by Baikal processors. The joint demonstration lab and expert portal will allow customers to evaluate the ecosystem’s maturity and performance directly during the architectural decision-making stage instead of relying solely on vendor claims,” said Ilya Sivtsev, CEO of Astra Group.

The vendors say they plan to develop the ecosystem as a long-term product initiative by expanding the portfolio of reference architectures and launching joint educational programs for systems integrators and enterprise customers.
