Artificial Intelligence in Russia Gets a Winter Upgrade
Smart mobile inspection units have been updated to detect ice buildup on rooftops and automatically report violations to municipal services.

Authorities in the Moscow region have upgraded mobile AI-powered inspection systems that monitor the condition of public spaces.
According to the regional Ministry for Territorial Maintenance and State Housing Supervision, engineers refined the algorithms so the system now detects not only graffiti and litter, but also winter hazards, including snowdrifts, ice buildup, and icicles hanging from rooftops.
The cameras operate automatically around the clock, analyzing conditions, identifying potentially dangerous areas, and forwarding information about violations to systems that generate work orders for коммунальные services.
Technology Takes on Winter Weather
In Primorye, officials have tasked artificial intelligence with monitoring the quality of snow removal. All snow-clearing equipment operated by regional contractors has been fitted with the GLONASS satellite navigation system. The collected data will be analyzed by AI, which will assess machine performance and the quality of road clearing.
In Kazan, meanwhile, two robotic snow-removal partners are being tested. One machine gathers snow, while the second throws it aside and levels the road surface. A pair of such machines can replace several dozen manual workers.
