Akvavostok Digital Platform to Boost Aquaculture in Northern Russia

Russia has launched Akvavostok, a digital service designed to simplify aquaculture site selection and streamline reporting for fisheries in the Far East and the North.
Akvavostok is an online platform that allows users to choose aquaculture sites on an electronic map of Russia’s Far East and northern regions, and submit applications to create such sites. The system will be integrated with other IT tools, including an electronic fishing logbook, to automate complex reporting and ease the workload in the aquaculture sector.
The shift to a digital platform will address a range of challenges—from transmitting daily vessel reports in real time to obtaining permits online. Digitizing these processes is expected to significantly reduce business costs.
Russian aquaculture companies, especially those farming mollusks and echinoderms, have long complained about the inefficiencies of the traditional paper-based reporting system. By adopting electronic reporting through services like Akvavostok, the industry hopes to remove bureaucratic bottlenecks and improve overall efficiency.
