Rosatom has launched the first compact automated environmental monitoring station in the Krasnoyarsk region, the company’s press service said.

The system is built on the Smart-shlyuz M1 (Smart Gateway M1) platform and has been adapted to local climate conditions and regional needs. Within 24 hours, the station continuously monitors air quality, measuring concentrations of seven substances – sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide and oxide, ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, and formaldehyde. The equipment checks compliance with regulatory limits and sends data in real time for analysis and environmental forecasting.

Continuous Collection of Reliable Data

According to Dmitry Gryzunov, head of Rosatom’s press service, more than 70% of the system’s components are domestically produced.

An integrated sampling and preparation system ensures measurement accuracy comparable to stationary laboratories. Valves open on command, and automated systems force air through specialized inlets, adjusting humidity and temperature to required levels. The controlled microclimate inside the station minimizes the risk of data distortion.

“The Smart-shlyuz configuration allows flexible selection of control components for specific tasks, opening broad opportunities for further development in industrial and environmental safety,” said Alexander Mugla, technical director for hardware-software system development at RIR.

If testing proves successful, the solution may be rolled out to other regions.
