Russia to Develop a National Supercomputing Strategy
The government has approved a roadmap for high-performance computing and supercomputer infrastructure.

Russia has adopted a roadmap outlining how the country will develop high-performance computing, artificial intelligence algorithms, grid technologies and supercomputer infrastructure. The document was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, according to the government’s press service.
In the coming years, authorities plan to introduce unified requirements for shared supercomputing centres and define the rules governing access to them. High-performance machines play a crucial role in the development of new materials, pharmaceuticals, digital twins and advanced AI technologies, and their importance continues to grow.
Unique Capabilities
A strategy for a next-generation National Research Computer Network will also be developed in the near future. In addition, work will begin on a federal scientific and technological programme aimed at creating domestic algorithms, methods and software for supercomputers.
Mishustin noted that Russia already possesses unique expertise in these areas and emphasised the importance of making full use of the country’s existing capabilities.
