Russian University Unveils AI-Driven Logistics Platform

Researchers in Novosibirsk have built an intelligent logistics system that can handle thousands of orders a day, cutting fuel costs and optimizing delivery routes.

At Novosibirsk State Technical University, a team of applied mathematicians and computer scientists has developed a universal AI-powered logistics platform designed to optimize the delivery of goods and services for companies handling massive volumes of orders. The prototype, created at the university’s Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, can efficiently process over a thousand requests per day, automatically building the fastest and most efficient transportation routes.

The platform is highly adaptable, allowing it to be customized for specific business needs. According to Vitaly Karmanov, associate professor at the Department of Theoretical and Applied Informatics, the system combines machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms with classic heuristic and metaheuristic optimization techniques.

“These are our own original methods—approaches that are only beginning to be used in this field,” Karmanov noted.

Beyond Logistics

The project goes beyond transportation planning. The research team is now exploring how similar optimization tools can be applied to industrial, energy, and warehouse logistics, creating integrated solutions that streamline operations across entire production and supply networks.
