Russia’s Digital Platform “Gosweb” Saves Millions for Regional Governments

Ulyanovsk Region joins the national web ecosystem, cutting costs and boosting cybersecurity for public institutions.

More than 1,000 government organizations in Russia’s Ulyanovsk Region have migrated to Gosweb, a domestic digital platform that powers official websites through the Unified State Services Portal. The system enables authorities, schools, hospitals, libraries, and cultural institutions to create and manage websites within a single secure ecosystem, ensuring reliability and data protection.

The large-scale transition has already delivered tangible economic results — the regional government reports budget savings of over 55 million rubles thanks to centralized administration and reduced maintenance costs.

Security and Innovation

“All data hosted on Gosweb is stored on protected servers within the state communications network. Each website undergoes strict security checks, which minimizes hacking and data leak risks,” regional officials noted.

Governor Aleksey Russkikh emphasized the significance of the move: “It’s particularly important that the Ulyanovsk Region will become the first region in Russia to transfer the official website of the governor and the regional government to the Gosweb digital platform.”

The region also became the first in Russia to launch a website for the Department for Cultural Heritage Protection on Gosweb. “For this purpose, the Ministry of Digital Development specially created a template for building portals for executive authorities on the platform,” the press service explained.

Now, residents get convenient, standardized, and secure websites, while government institutions gain a modern digital tool that makes public services faster, safer, and more transparent.
