Smolensk Nuclear Power Plant Tests Upgraded Training Simulator
The Smolensk Nuclear Power Plant is testing an upgraded full-scale simulator that can replicate any scenario encountered during power unit operations.

Testing has begun on the modernized PMT-3 full-scope simulator for control room unit No. 3 at the Smolensk Nuclear Power Plant. The equipment has undergone a major upgrade, and its systems are now being checked for proper operation.
The PMT-3 is designed to replicate all elements of the control room panel. It allows staff to train across a wide range of scenarios, from normal operations to simulated emergency scenarios. The system was developed and supplied by the All-Russian Research Institute for Nuclear Power Plant Operation, part of the Rosatom state corporation.
All tests are expected to be completed over the summer, with the equipment set to enter full operation by the start of the academic year.
