Wastewater Management at Russian Aeration Plant Set for Automation
Operators will be able to monitor station parameters remotely in real time.

A new software-and-hardware system is being developed at the Nizhny Novgorod Aeration Plant to monitor wastewater treatment processes and automate operational control.
The system will enable wastewater treatment using modern monitoring and management technologies, allowing equipment to automatically adjust its operation to predefined parameters.
The upgrade will eliminate the need for staff to remain constantly on site. Operators will be able to monitor treatment processes from a central dispatch center and respond quickly to abnormal situations.
Part of a Station Modernization Program
A video wall in the dispatch center will allow operators to track parameters in real time. The display will show readings from all controllers and instruments connected to the software-and-hardware system.
Some equipment has already been integrated into the new system. The complex has been installed at several technological buildings and facilities at the aeration plant. In the future, automated management will be extended to all key sections of the station.
The Nizhny Novgorod Aeration Plant is the largest wastewater treatment facility in the region. It is currently undergoing a large-scale modernization program. The first stage covered 50 facilities, while the second stage of reconstruction will affect another 61 sites.
