More Than 300 AI Projects Are Underway Across Russia's Energy Sector
Russia's energy sector is already running more than 300 artificial intelligence projects, Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev said, as the industry accelerates its transition to domestically developed digital technologies.

Tsivilev said Russia's fuel and energy sector is fully prepared to transition to domestic digital solutions, calling the move a key prerequisite for strengthening the country's technological resilience.
Artificial intelligence is already being deployed across dozens of core operational processes in the energy sector. More than 300 AI projects are currently underway, and by the end of 2027, 70% of the industry's large companies are expected to be using AI technologies.
Another major initiative is the creation of an industry-wide testing ground for evaluating and validating emerging technologies. The ministry is also placing particular emphasis on protecting energy infrastructure from cyber threats through the Kontroliruyemyye kiberataki v toplivno-energeticheskom komplekse (Controlled Cyberattacks in the Fuel and Energy Sector) pilot project.
In addition, the Ministry of Energy is launching three new investment cycles covering the oil and gas industry, the coal sector, and electric power generation.
