No-code and Import Independence: How Russian Mining Companies Are Going Digital

One of Russia’s oldest coal mining companies, Kuzbassrazrezugol, has gone all-in on artificial intelligence for managing project workflows and document management. The deployment is based on the Directum RX platform, which the company implemented recursively—using the system’s own templates to set it up.
Modernizing Workflow: Goodbye to Routine
Before the integration of Directum RX, the company operated with 10 separate electronic document management systems. These were used by 582 employees with varying levels of access and digital literacy. According to internal users, document approval times have been cut in half since the transition.
The new unified digital environment eliminated the need for multiple software platforms, significantly simplifying operations. Employees no longer have to switch between systems, reducing the risk of errors during data transfer.
As a result, employees now work in a single communication environment, department heads gain access to detailed analytics, and company directors have better oversight of key performance indicators.

The implementation of Directum RX led to a number of outcomes: streamlined document flow; faster registration, approval, and signing processes; improved communication speed and transparency; fewer system-related errors; and the introduction of task planning and monitoring tools for team collaboration.
AI as a Strategic Advantage
The creation of a flexible, domestically developed electronic document management system with project planning capabilities is a timely solution to an urgent need.
Across many sectors of industry, there's growing demand for tools that streamline business processes, accelerate documentation procedures, and require minimal customization. This places Directum RX—and platforms like it—on a strong growth trajectory in Russia and beyond.
Notably, Directum Projects is a fully Russian-developed solution. This explains its wide adoption in the extractive industries, where security and sovereignty over data are paramount.
Replacing Imports, Boosting Sovereignty
Gazprom Dobycha Shelf Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk also placed its trust in the Russian-developed Directum RX platform, deploying it on Alt Linux and Postgres Pro. The company migrated not just its operational documentation but its entire archive, including access rights and data links. Today, about 650 users rely on the platform, processing 5,000 to 7,000 documents and over 7,000 tasks each month.

A similar move came from Gazprom Transgaz Ukhta earlier this year, though with help from a contractor. The number of users is significantly larger—over 13,500 personnel now operate within the Directum RX ecosystem.
Even back in 2022, gold mining giant Petropavlovsk adopted Directum RX to digitize its counterparty due diligence process. Its AI-powered risk assessment algorithm can now rank business partners by financial reliability in just one day.
Export Appeal in Sanctions-Era Markets
While demand in Russia is surging, Directum RX is also poised to win over customers in CIS countries and other markets with similar infrastructure and import restrictions. For regions with elevated sanctions risk—such as Latin America, Asia, and Africa—import independence is a major competitive advantage.
