Russian University to Train Quantum Engineers
The new program is designed for specialists in quantum communications.

Russian Technological University MIREA, one of the country’s leading institutions for IT training, has unveiled a new educational track. Starting in 2026, the university will train engineers for quantum communications and quantum computing, according to its press service.
Students will gain skills in designing, building, operating, and maintaining backbone and corporate quantum networks, as well as in designing and supporting classical IT infrastructure. They will also learn to apply quantum algorithms to solve applied problems.
Strong Partners and an Open Platform
The program’s technology partners include Russian Railways (RZD), Joint venture Quant, and state corporation Rosatom.
The university already operates Russia’s first open quantum computing platform, Quantum MIREA, which will serve as a theoretical testing ground for future engineers.
