ABP2B Unveils Beta Version 3.0.0 of the MS22 Remote Connection Manager
ABP2B has released beta version 3.0.0 of its MS22 remote connection manager. The client has been completely rewritten in Rust, replacing Node.js, reducing idle memory consumption from 250 MB to 50 MB. The redesign also lowers system load: under 50 simultaneous sessions, resource usage is comparable to just 10 sessions in the previous release. MS22 is used to administer servers, network equipment, and databases. The beta version runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, supporting SSH, Mosh, SFTP, Telnet, RDP, and VNC. The new release also expands compatibility with Windows Server, adds RD Gateway support, and upgrades file transfer and the SQL editor.

The ABP2B product does not introduce a new software category. Instead, it modernizes an established tool for system administrators and enterprise IT teams. The update reflects a broader shift from building domestic substitutes for foreign products toward redesigning software architecture and competing on performance. It strengthens the infrastructure administration software segment while expanding import substitution capabilities. The project also demonstrates a practical commercial use case for Rust. MS22 has been listed in the Russian Software Registry (No. 21455) since February 2024, making it eligible for procurement by government organizations and companies prioritizing domestic software.
Although the product targets IT professionals, it indirectly improves the resilience and technological independence of corporate and government IT environments. More broadly, it supports the development of domestic infrastructure management tools, reduces reliance on foreign software, and expands expertise in systems programming. While the product is not unique on the global market, it stands out as an example of a complete migration of a cross-platform commercial application to Rust, delivering a substantial reduction in resource consumption.

Support for Open Protocols
MS22's primary growth opportunities lie within the Russian market. After foreign vendors withdrew in 2022, demand for domestic remote-access tools increased sharply. TeamViewer's exit, in particular, accelerated the development of local alternatives. That trend was further reinforced by Russia's import substitution policy and recommendations from MinTsifry (Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media) encouraging government agencies and operators of critical information infrastructure to migrate to domestic software.
Future development is expected to focus on improving stability, introducing centralized management of connections and credentials, integrating with asset management and monitoring systems, strengthening activity oversight, and expanding support for Russian software platforms. Integration with OdinHub (OneHub) has already been implemented, allowing administrators to connect directly to equipment from within the inventory management system.
The product could also attract interest in CIS countries because of its cross-platform design and support for open protocols. Competition with established international SSH, RDP, and VNC clients, however, is expected to remain intense.

A Market Reshaped After Foreign Vendors Left
After TeamViewer halted sales and license renewals in Russia in 2022, demand for Russian remote-access solutions increased significantly. Domestic alternatives soon appeared, including Kontur.Dostup from SKB Kontur, and the market rapidly filled with replacements for foreign products.
ABP2B released the first version of MS22 in 2023 as an alternative to foreign connection managers. The product was originally built on Node.js, but as its functionality expanded, the architecture increasingly constrained performance. In 2024, MS22 was added to the Russian Software Registry (No. 21455), broadening its adoption across the public sector and import substitution initiatives.
Throughout 2024 and 2025, Russia's remote administration software market continued to expand while becoming increasingly competitive. Alongside international products, domestic offerings such as Assistant, RuDesktop, RMS, and others also advanced. Against that backdrop, MS22 was positioned in 2025 as an enterprise-focused platform for managing server connections over SSH and other protocols.

Toward a Universal Connection Manager
MS22's migration to Rust marks a new stage in the product's technical evolution. By replacing its underlying architecture, the developer reduced memory consumption by nearly fivefold. The future of version 3.0 will depend on beta testing results, stability across different server operating systems, and the quality of its integrations. A free edition could broaden adoption among small businesses and educational institutions.
According to industry experts, MS22 has the potential to establish itself as a universal connection manager in the domestic market, particularly if it expands integration with Russian asset management and cybersecurity platforms. To compete in large-scale enterprise deployments, however, the product will need to strengthen centralized administration, activity auditing, role-based access control, and support for domestic infrastructure technologies.
