The initiative was announced by Nikolai Tashlanov, a regional lawmaker and chief physician of the Center for Occupational Pathology, as reported by Mediaholding Yugra.
According to Tashlanov, AI has become an indispensable assistant for doctors working with limited resources and a heavy influx of patients from remote settlements. Algorithms help speed up diagnostics, improve accuracy, and select optimal treatment methods.
Regional authorities are actively expanding telemedicine and digital technologies in healthcare to ensure equal access to medical services for all residents of Yugra. Equipping the 'Nikolai Pirogov' with AI is just the first step toward scaling similar solutions across Russia.
Experts suggest this approach could become a model for other regions with low population density and difficult transport access.
