By 2030, More Than Half of Russian Businesses Will Rely Solely on Domestic IT Products

Russian companies are accelerating their move away from foreign software, with analysts predicting a majority will be running entirely on homegrown tech within the next decade.

Today, only 10.3 percent of Russian businesses report being fully independent from foreign digital technologies. But according to a new analysis by consulting firm T1 and the software association Russoft, that number will climb dramatically in the coming years. Between 2026 and 2030, an estimated 56.7 percent of Russian organizations are expected to complete their transition to domestic software.

Some sectors are already well ahead of the curve. In finance, 23.1 percent of companies have fully switched to Russian software, with banks dedicating around 13.3 percent of their budgets to IT development. Retail shows a similar pattern, with one in three organizations declaring digital independence today.

Industry is moving more slowly, but the trend is clear: roughly a quarter of manufacturers plan to finalize the switch by 2026, while 45 percent aim to get there by 2030.

Analysts stress that the transition won’t be instant, but it will be steady. For most companies, adopting Russian software has become part of long-term strategy. Integration hurdles and short-term difficulties, they argue, will eventually be outweighed by the strategic benefits.

The shift, if realized, would give Russian businesses more than just technological sovereignty. It could also help build a self-sustaining, competitive domestic ecosystem — one designed to replace Western tech with homegrown alternatives.
