Russian Oil Industry Turns to Digital Tech to Boost Orenburg Production

In Russia’s Orenburg region, oil producers are deploying cutting-edge digital tools to manage vast reserves, pushing extraction efficiency to record levels

Russian oil producers report a major milestone in the Orenburg region, where total output has reached 60 million tons of hydrocarbons, including 34 million tons of oil. The achievement is powered by advanced domestic IT systems that allow real-time monitoring and optimization of operations.

A subsidiary of Gazprom Neft is currently developing 10 oil fields across the region. Its digital management platform oversees more than 900 wells and infrastructure facilities. The technology has also driven environmental performance: at the Eastern section of the Orenburg field, associated petroleum gas utilization hit a record 99 percent, while the enterprise-wide rate remains above 96 percent.

Beyond production, the company is investing heavily in sustainability and community initiatives. Over the past 14 years, its “Native Towns” program has funded more than 600 social projects in the Orenburg region, ranging from school construction and cultural centers to sports facilities and urban improvements.
