Moscow to Launch Mass Production of AI-Powered Educational Drones

Russia is preparing to roll out large-scale production of educational quadcopters equipped with onboard neural networks, aiming to train the next generation of drone professionals

In Moscow’s Technopolis special economic zone, engineers will soon begin serial production of Russian-made educational drones. According to the city government, the new quadcopter is built with a processor featuring a neural accelerator and a high-precision camera, making it a powerful learning tool for future specialists.

One of the key features is the drone’s autonomous onboard AI. The neural network recognizes objects, helps the drone follow preset routes, and enables it to coordinate with other drones in a swarm without external control.

The production line will be based in the city’s unmanned technologies cluster, with mass manufacturing set to start by late 2025. All prototypes will undergo testing at a newly built flight and research facility.

Demand among Russia’s younger generation is already strong. Students and schoolchildren are actively learning not only to operate drones but also to design complex aerial systems. The trend reflects a broader shift: drones and AI-driven cameras are increasingly vital across industries from manufacturing and mining to agriculture, medicine, and beyond.
