Russia Unveils a Unique Multi-Channel Audio Recorder

A new device from a Tula-based company offers professional-grade, stand-alone multichannel sound recording without a PC.
Russian electroacoustics manufacturer Oktava DM is bringing to market a new four-channel audio recorder, the ARD-4-USB — a device the company says has no global equivalent, according to CNews.
Designed for professional use, the ARD-4-USB can capture sound from up to four USB microphones simultaneously, without connecting to a computer. It transfers recordings over local networks using SFTP and S3 protocols, and supports intelligent modes such as voice-activated recording to save storage space.
The recorder is compatible with digital microphones for interviews, lectures, and conferences. It provides 5V phantom power, supports sampling rates from 8 kHz to 48 kHz, and bit depths from 8 to 32 bits — giving users flexibility across multiple applications.
Potential use cases span education, business, security, and media: recording lectures, negotiations, and interviews; call center monitoring (where legally permitted); industrial equipment oversight; content production; and journalism.
“This solution combines power, autonomy, and ease of use. It simplifies tasks wherever reliable audio capture is needed,” company representatives said.
The ARD-4-USB is slated for release in late August 2025.
