Evgeny Abakumov: “We Are Building AI Infrastructure to Power the Digital Economy”
At the International Technology Congress, Rosatom executives highlighted the strategic role of artificial intelligence in Russia’s technological sovereignty and digital future.

Rosatom representatives took part in the second International Technology Congress, where they discussed key pathways to strengthening Russia’s technological sovereignty. IT leaders and nuclear industry experts showcased domestic advances in artificial intelligence and mathematical modeling, while also sharing their experience training tens of thousands of engineers to work with cutting-edge digital tools.
The congress underscored that Rosatom’s ongoing digital transformation and focus on homegrown technologies contribute not only to the nuclear sector but also to the broader technological independence of the country.
During a plenary session dedicated to trusted technologies, Rosatom’s Chief Information Officer Evgeny Abakumov stressed the strategic importance of AI for critical infrastructure.
The congress also addressed workforce development. Speakers at the “Digital Engineering School” panel noted that modern engineers must combine deep subject-matter expertise with IT skills. Rosatom is embedding itself in Russia’s educational ecosystem, emphasizing the training of young specialists and the retraining of current staff.
