Russia Issues Guide to Spot Real Notifications from Gosuslugi

The Interior Ministry is warning Russians about a wave of phishing scams imitating the government’s e-services portal and offering tips to tell fake messages from genuine ones.

Russia’s Interior Ministry Cybersecurity Directorate has issued new recommendations on how citizens can recognize fraudulent messages sent in the name of the Gosuslugi portal, according to RIA Novosti.

The key rule, officials stress, is to pay attention to communication channels. Genuine notifications from Gosuslugi are sent only to the email address or phone number listed in a user’s account. The portal does not send alerts via messengers.

Equally important: official messages never request sensitive information such as pension IDs, bank card details, or SMS codes. Information about fines, taxes, or payments is always available directly in a user’s account on the website. Employees never ask people to call unfamiliar numbers or forward verification codes.

Citizens are advised to manually check the sender’s address to confirm it matches the official Gosuslugi domain. All links in authentic notifications lead only to the secure gosuslugi.ru site. Authorities warn: when in doubt, do not click suspicious links, open attachments, or share any personal data.
