Greenhouses in the Moscow Region Turn to Robots and AI
Automation is helping growers increase crop yields while reducing operating costs.
Moscow Region Agriculture and Food Minister Vitaly Mosin spoke at the Data Day 2026 forum at VDNH, where he said the region's greenhouse operators are rapidly adopting advanced automation technologies. These include robotics, artificial intelligence systems, and other digital tools that help reduce costs, improve product quality, and support faster operational decision-making. The region is also working to integrate information systems and reduce administrative reporting requirements for agricultural producers, creating a unified digital environment in which data serves as a management tool.
Those efforts have already produced measurable results. Last year, greenhouse producers in the Moscow region ranked first in Russia for total vegetable production from protected cultivation. Regional officials say the pace of digital transformation is expected to continue accelerating.
