Major Russian Retailer Launches Online Marketplace for Electric Vehicles

M.Video expands into the EV market, marking a new phase in Russia’s e-commerce evolution.

One of Russia’s largest electronics and appliance chains, M.Video, has launched a pilot project to sell hybrid and electric vehicles through its online marketplace, the company’s press service announced. Customers can now purchase electric cars and charging stations directly via the retailer’s website or mobile app. The initiative is being implemented in partnership with auto dealers and charging equipment suppliers.

E-commerce Powers the EV Market

At launch, the marketplace offers eight crossover models from Li Auto and Zeekr, along with six fast-charging stations suitable for both private and industrial use.

Selling cars through online platforms has become one of the key e-commerce trends of 2025. Earlier this year, Wildberries also entered the electric vehicle segment, with thousands of cars sold via digital platforms.

Marketplaces have become a major driver of Russia’s digital economy — in 2022, online trade turnover exceeded 10 trillion rubles, and the range of goods available online now spans everything from electronics to real estate.

By integrating EV sales, M.Video is reinforcing the shift toward tech-driven retail ecosystems, where customers can access high-value, innovative products through familiar digital channels.
