MEPhI and Sber Launch Labs for Autonomous Tech Development
Two new research labs have opened at National Research Nuclear University MEPhI, where students and early-career researchers will develop technologies in microelectronics, autonomous transport, and artificial intelligence. Sber is partnering on one of the labs.

The labs – “Bespilotny transport” (Unmanned Transport) and “Perspektivnye vychislitelnye tekhnologii” (Advanced Computing Technologies) – are based at MEPhI’s Institute of Intelligent Cybernetic Systems. Students and researchers will gain access to up-to-date technology and take part in real-world projects, while Sber’s involvement is expected to bring technical expertise and closer alignment between academic research and industry needs.
According to the rector, the new labs are designed not as short-term grant projects but as a continuous pipeline for training the country’s top engineers.
