New Professions Are Emerging in Russia at the Intersection of IT and Construction
3D modelers and robotic welding operators are reshaping Moscow’s construction industry.

Russia is seeing the rise of a new generation of specialists combining skills in information technology, construction, and industry, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said. He noted growing demand in the labor market for 3D modelers — professionals who help design buildings and infrastructure with a high degree of precision.
Digital visualization makes it possible to accurately convey an architect’s vision, including the most ambitious and unconventional design solutions. These specialists are applying their expertise in Moscow’s large-scale housing renovation program.
According to Anton Nasekin, head of the visualization department at Mosproekt-4, teams create digital models that are as close to reality as possible.
Cutting Costs and Speeding Up Development
Another emerging profession is that of a robotic welding operator. One specialist can control several welding robots at once, significantly reducing labor costs and task completion times, while also working on the robots’ software.
A BIM specialist is responsible for the building’s information model.
As technology advances, the labor market itself is changing. Today, skills in IT and artificial intelligence have become a competitive advantage in nearly every industry.
