Orenburg Launches First Nationwide Online Exhibition of Young Artists
For the first time in its 14-year history, Russia’s ‘Young Artists: Art and Traditions’ competition has gone fully online, making contemporary art accessible far beyond Orenburg.

The large-scale competition-exhibition ‘Young Artists: Art and Traditions’ has opened in Orenburg. This year, the project, now in its 14th edition, became a nationwide event thanks to digital technologies. The exhibition brought together nearly 150 emerging artists showcasing works in painting, graphics, and contemporary art objects.
The central innovation is a full online format—all works are presented on the exhibition’s website for the first time. According to the organizers, this move allows art to be seen not only by residents of Orenburg but also by audiences across Russia. For young artists from 36 cities in Russia, as well as from Armenia and Belarus, participation in such a prestigious project is a crucial step toward professional recognition and membership in the Artists’ Union.
Yuri Komlev, director of the Orenburg Museum of Fine Arts, told IT RUSSIA that modern technologies are transforming both art itself and how people interact with it.
