Moscow Launches Digital Ecosystem for Electric Vehicle Drivers
The city of Moscow is rolling out a major expansion of its electric vehicle charging network. All new stations will be integrated into unified mobile apps, allowing drivers to find, reserve, and pay for charging sessions in real time.

Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced the project to expand EV charging infrastructure. The government has signed long-term contracts for the installation and maintenance of charging stations.
By 2030, the number of electric cars in Moscow is expected to reach 300,000. To support them, the city will allocate sufficient electrical capacity and prepare foundations for the stations. Private operators will handle installation and maintenance for the next seven years.
All new charging stations will follow a unified city standard, with smart digital integration as their key feature. Data on each station’s location and operational status will appear in real time within Moscow’s transportation apps and partner services.
For drivers, this will provide a powerful digital tool. With a smartphone, they will be able not only to find an available charger on the map, but also to build a route, reserve a slot, and start a session. Importantly, city-owned stations will support fast charging—just 30 to 40 minutes.
For Moscow, the initiative is a step toward building a smarter, greener, and more modern transportation system.
