Russian University Opens Lab to Train Students in Digital Subsurface Technologies

In Russia’s Perm region, oil companies are helping strengthen educational infrastructure. At Perm Polytechnic University, a new lab is giving students hands-on experience with the digital tools used to explore and develop subsurface resources.

The new facility, called 'Digital Subsurface Technologies,' was set up in the university’s main building for students of the mining and petroleum faculty.

The lab is equipped with advanced software and a VR zone for simulating emergency scenarios. Here, students can practice integrated modeling skills widely applied at LUKOIL enterprises.

In addition, a modern training ground has been opened at the petroleum college for both student instruction and employee qualification assessments. Meanwhile, Perm Lyceum No. 4 has received a state-of-the-art chemistry lab. Last year, the lyceum launched a LUKOIL-affiliated class where students study technical English, organic chemistry, and computer graphics.
