Rosatom: A Key Player in Global IT and Nuclear Innovation

State corporation Rosatom has evolved from a leader in nuclear energy into a key player in global IT, developing cutting-edge digital solutions. Its participation in international forums, including the Digital Industry of Russia conference and ICQT-2025, underscores the corporation’s global influence.

Digitalizing the Nuclear Sector

Rosatom is actively integrating digital technologies to improve the efficiency and safety of nuclear facilities. In July 2025, at the Digital Industry of Russia conference, the corporation showcased its achievements in digital twins, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems, Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE), and Building Information Modeling (BIM), all united within a digital ecosystem.

These solutions, successfully replacing foreign counterparts, are used not only in the nuclear industry but also adapted for mechanical engineering and aviation. The Multi-D platform creates digital twins of nuclear power plants, optimizing processes from design to operation. Applied at Rostov NPP, it’s already adapted for projects in Belarus (Ostrovets) and Finland (Hanhikivi-1), meeting STUK regulatory requirements and reducing design time by 20–30%.

The LOGOS software suite, including modules for aerodynamic and heat transfer modeling, is used at 70 Russian enterprises, showcasing its versatility. The migration of 133,000 workstations across 150 Rosatom organizations to domestic software—including operating systems and office suites—has eliminated reliance on Microsoft, enhanced data security, and mitigated sanctions risks.

Our main focus is not isolated programs but a holistic digital ecosystem. By uniting the industry’s top specialists, we’ve created a full suite of import-substituting solutions in the nuclear sector—including PLM systems, CAE tools, and BIM technologies. We are not stopping here; we are replicating these solutions across various industries and offering proven results to our international partners.

Quantum Technologies and Innovation

At the 8th International Conference on Quantum Technologies (ICQT-2025) held in Moscow from July 21–25, Rosatom served as a general partner, hosting the panel discussion 'The Quantum of Justice'. The corporation presented breakthroughs in quantum computing, including neuromorphic systems built on Russian memristors that mimic brain activity to control robots.

These technologies, developed within the National Center for Physics and Mathematics (NCFM), increase energy efficiency by 40% and are used in the nuclear sector for process modeling. Rosatom is also advancing quantum sensors and communications to secure data at nuclear power plants.

At the Eurasian Economic Forum in June 2025, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan emphasized that digitalization opens new doors for economic and governance improvements, expressing interest in cross-border platforms. Rosatom supports this initiative, offering solutions like SARUS for lifecycle management and Atom.RITA for robotic automation—attracting partners in Vietnam and Egypt.

Global Reach and IT Export

Rosatom’s IT solutions are deployed in international projects. The Multi-D platform is used in building Egypt’s El-Dabaa NPP, Turkey’s Akkuyu, and India’s Kudankulam, demonstrating compliance with global standards. At ICQT-2025, Rosatom invited Vietnamese researchers to discuss quantum tech collaborations.

Through its Impact Team 2050 initiative, Rosatom promotes education in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, raising awareness about nuclear technology and environmental sustainability. This boosts Russia’s reputation as a provider of IT solutions competitive with those from the US and China.
