Rosel has launched mass production of new 4K light-sensitive CMOS imaging sensors for unmanned aerial vehicles. The devices were developed by the Tsentralny nauchno-issledovatelsky institut Elektron (Central Research Institute Elektron) specifically for use in demanding operating environments.

According to industry experts, the new sensors are expected to see broad adoption in agricultural drones. The systems will allow drones to continue monitoring fields even under strong winds and heavy vibration.

“Our new sensors were trained to handle these conditions from the development stage onward – dust, high humidity, rain or artificial irrigation, and sudden temperature swings. They remain operational and deliver clear images even when conventional commercial cameras begin producing noise or fail entirely,” representatives of the developer said.

The technology could allow farmers to monitor field conditions in nearly any weather, helping them make operational decisions more quickly.
