Russia to Develop AI-Powered Weather Forecasting Services
Digital technologies have boosted Roshydromet forecast accuracy to 96 percent

Russia’s Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring has increased the accuracy of its weather forecasts to 96% using modern technologies, the government said. Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev noted that by this measure, Roshydromet ranks among the leading national weather services.
AI-Driven Forecasting
The agency collects and processes vast amounts of data and conducts more than 30 types of monitoring, including from satellites, research vessels, observation stations, and permafrost monitoring sites. Two additional satellites were launched last year, and several new Earth remote sensing satellites are expected to be deployed soon.
“The results of this work should be used as efficiently as possible and made available to users online. It is necessary to create convenient forecasting services, including those using artificial intelligence,” Patrushev said.
