Russia to Launch Digital Platform for Tourists Abroad

A new nationwide platform will help Russian travelers abroad access emergency services, consular support, and cloud-based document storage—all in one app.

Russia is developing an integrated digital platform designed to assist its citizens when traveling abroad. A key goal is to provide access to emergency assistance for tourists outside the country.

The platform will include features such as calling local emergency services and quickly contacting Russian consulates. Users will also be able to file electronic reports in case of lost or stolen documents, and securely store copies of their documents in the cloud, according to State Duma Tourism Committee Deputy Chair Sergey Krivonosov, as reported by TASS.

The unified digital platform is expected to be especially popular among tourists vacationing at the beach or exploring new cities. It is designed to support first-time travelers in particular.

Digital technology is already helping keep Russian tourists safer before they even leave the country. Many rely on digital assistants to choose travel destinations, plan routes, and book hotels. Domestic apps powered by AI can suggest attractions to visit and recommend local dining spots.
