Russian AI Learns to Pinpoint Gene Distances in DNA Strands

Russian scientists have created a groundbreaking algorithm for generative artificial intelligence that can determine the locations of genes within DNA strands, even when only partial data on gene distances is available. This innovation could speed up diagnostics of genetic disorders and the creation of life-saving medications.
The AI system was tested on a segment of human chromosome 21, spanning two million nucleotides. To evaluate its performance, researchers deliberately removed parts of the known gene distances. The algorithm successfully reconstructed many of the missing sections, outperforming traditional bioinformatics tools.
