Russian Bank Boosts Business Analytics with AI

Artificial intelligence is reshaping how one of Russia's largest banks handles business analytics, promising to automate routine tasks and speed up decision-making.

A major Russian bank has integrated process-based business analytics with artificial intelligence, changing how specialists handle tasks that straddle both technical and managerial domains — from writing SQL queries to interpreting data in a business context.

For entry-level professionals and to accelerate ongoing projects, Alfa-Bank is actively deploying AI-powered assistants. At the heart of the system is a neural network platform connected to the bank’s analytics engine. This engine stores structured data on processes, including diagrams, metrics, project documentation, and employee interviews, allowing AI to receive precise task parameters. The results are displayed in dynamic dashboards for quick decision-making.

Looking ahead, the bank plans to develop autonomous AI agents for process analytics. Experts estimate that 20 to 30 percent of routine operations can already be handled by AI, with the number potentially rising to 70 percent within the next one to two years. This synergy between process analytics and AI allows businesses to adapt more rapidly to market changes.

Neural network tools are rapidly spreading across industries. In the second quarter of 2025, their adoption in combination with predictive analytics in Russian companies grew by 32 percent compared to the same period in 2024. The manufacturing sector leads with 31 percent of the total implementations, followed by energy (18 percent) and finance (16 percent).

In the coming years, AI's role in banking is expected to grow beyond automating routine workflows, with intelligent systems offering strategic recommendations based on vast datasets.
