Russian Cyberdefense Systems Repel Record-Breaking Wave of Attacks

In July 2025, Russia’s state-run cyber units neutralized hundreds of large-scale DDoS assaults, including one of the most powerful in recent years.
In a single month, Russia’s federal communications watchdog, Roskomnadzor, thwarted 680 targeted DDoS attacks aimed at government agencies, transport companies, and telecom operators. The operations were handled by its Center for Monitoring and Managing Public Communications Networks, according to the agency’s press office.
One of the most intense assaults peaked at 750 Gbps — the equivalent of 138 million data packets per second — and lasted more than five days. Despite the scale, Russia’s defensive systems contained the threat without disrupting critical services.
Officials say the country’s investment in advanced cybersecurity technologies is paying off, enabling it to withstand even the most complex digital offensives. The successful defense of hundreds of targets underscores the resilience of Russia’s government-run networks.
