Russian-Made Baikal Processors Enter Mass Production

Russia’s Baikal Electronics is scaling up production of its domestic chips, aiming to ship tens of thousands of units by the end of the year.

Baikal Electronics, a Russian chip manufacturer, plans to deliver several tens of thousands of its Baikal-L and Baikal-M processors to customers by the end of 2025. According to the business outlet Kommersant, total shipments could surpass 100,000 units by the end of 2026, marking a significant milestone for the Russian microelectronics industry.

Oleg Izumrudov, head of a consortium specializing in data storage systems, confirmed that the company has already started accepting orders. He noted that the Baikal-M processor delivers performance levels comparable to leading products on the global market.

Russian tech firms are actively testing the new processors in their devices. The company ICL is developing a laptop based on the Baikal-L, while Bitblaze is working on a similar project with the Baikal-M. In addition, manufacturer Elpitech has registered a batch of 796 Baikal-L-based motherboards, which are currently undergoing localization compliance testing.
