SNIIP Named Rosatom's Lead Design Organization for Radiation Monitoring Systems
The designation gives the institute expanded authority to advance import substitution efforts in Russia's nuclear industry.
The Specialized Research Institute of Instrument Engineering (SNIIP) has been designated Rosatom's lead design organization for radiation monitoring systems. The new status gives the institute formal authority to standardize technical solutions and lead efforts to reduce the variety of radiation monitoring equipment used across the nuclear sector.
The designation will also enable SNIIP to develop a standard technical design for radiation monitoring systems based on Russian technologies.
“The most important responsibility of SNIIP in its role as the lead design organization will be to help ensure the safety of nuclear facilities if foreign manufacturers stop supplying spare parts for equipment used at nuclear power plants, or if a foreign developer refuses to transfer design documentation to a Russian manufacturer for spare-parts production or declines to approve the use of replacement parts manufactured under alternative design documentation,” said Andrey Gordeyev, Chief Designer at SNIIP.
