Softime Unveils Secure Base Station for Mobile Networks

The new equipment is designed to rapidly detect unauthorized attempts to interfere with telecom network operations.

Several Russian companies are already manufacturing base stations for telecom operators, with production capacity measured in the thousands of units. Even so, demand for new domestically produced base stations remains so high that the market still has room for additional suppliers.

Demand for Russian-Made Base Stations Remains High

Softime’s management clearly understands the scale of that opportunity. The developer recently introduced its own base station platform, called RADIOS SR 2G/4G. The equipment supports both GSM and LTE networks. Support for 3G is intentionally excluded because the standard is considered outdated and commercially unpromising, with operators continuing to phase it out at scale. At the same time, the platform can be upgraded relatively quickly for future 5G network deployments if required.

The station also includes a distinct technical feature: the new BBU03 control module supporting up to 12 sectors and offering extensive customization capabilities. According to the developers, the component also outperforms many foreign equivalents in cybersecurity protection. Its high processing capacity allows simultaneous GSM and LTE operation while supporting advanced carrier functions such as Carrier Aggregation, ANR (Automatic Neighbor Relations) and other operator-grade features.

A Security-First Approach

Active defense against malicious interference is positioned as one of the core competitive advantages of Softime’s platform. The RADIOS SR 2G/4G base station includes multiple software layers designed to rapidly detect illegal attempts to compromise network operations. Among other capabilities, the equipment can identify SIM boxes, devices commonly used by cybercriminals to place fraudulent calls from unregistered numbers.

“Joint efforts by law-enforcement agencies and mobile operators to strengthen cybersecurity are a task of national importance, and the use of domestically developed equipment only contributes to solving it,” said Alexey Alyasev, CEO of Signaltek, Softime’s technology partner.

The focus on enhanced protection also signals Softime’s broader ambitions within the Russian telecom market. Over time, the new base station could find demand in government, industrial and secure private-network deployments at critical infrastructure facilities, remote locations and enterprises where vendor control, cybersecurity and local servicing capabilities are especially important. That is why Softime positions the platform as trusted telecom equipment.

A National Industrial Priority

The emergence of another domestic base-station supplier aligns directly with the goals of the federal Otechestvennye resheniya (Domestic Solutions) project. The initiative calls for truly large-scale production of import-independent telecom infrastructure equipment within Russia. By 2027, domestically manufactured GSM, LTE and 5G base stations are expected to account for 33% of the market. That means production volumes could already reach tens of thousands of units as early as next year.

Not the Company’s First Deployment

This is far from Softime’s first experience developing specialized base stations. Back in 2024, the company introduced equipment supporting all major LTE frequency bands. One of the station’s key capabilities was automatic frequency-band switching in the event of interference. The first customer for those base stations was Voentelecom, the telecommunications operator affiliated with Russia’s Ministry of Defense. Voentelecom also operates its own virtual mobile network operator, VTK-Mobile.

For that reason, there is little doubt that Softime’s new base station will also find customers as demand for secure communications infrastructure continues to rise. The arrival of a high-performance platform with 2G/4G support, 5G readiness and built-in cybersecurity tools demonstrates how Russian telecom developers are gradually moving beyond reproducing baseline functionality toward creating equipment with advanced operational capabilities.

Russian-made hardware guarantees uninterrupted servicing that is independent of foreign supply constraints. RADIOS is a fully Russian solution, including software, hardware and integration, built entirely on domestic technologies
