Letjedi Thabang Mabinane: The Forum Is Gaining Popularity Around the World
The 2nd Global Digital Forum brought together more than 1,000 experts and representatives of technology companies from 120 countries in Moscow. They explored one another’s developments and found opportunities for professional cooperation.

The event at Gorky Park addressed the prospects for IT development, countries’ digital independence, and ways to strengthen international ties.
Letjedi Thabang Mabinane, a representative of a nonprofit organization from South Africa, spoke to the IT Russia media platform about how the forum has changed since last year and what he took away from participating in the event.
– I work for a nonprofit organization, where I focus on developing the digital internet and digital technologies.
I am impressed by the forum’s program and its content. Compared with last year, when I also attended, the content has improved considerably. The number of participants has grown noticeably, and the quality of the presentations is higher than at the previous forum. The organizers have done a good job.
Overall, I can say that I have learned a lot here, especially in information technology. But there is one presentation I would particularly like to highlight. It was given by one of the cosmonauts, who shared his experiences of spaceflight and told us what it was like to live and work in space. I found it incredibly interesting.
I was interested in space even before, but after today’s presentation, my enthusiasm for the field has grown even stronger. What is more, Russia is now quite open to sharing knowledge about space. All we need to do is submit a request and specify what we are interested in to receive more detailed information. That was another valuable discovery for me, and I am glad this opportunity exists.
I plan to attend the Global Digital Forum again next year. I hope my application will be approved. In addition, this December I will take part in an initiative under Russia–South Africa cooperation within BRICS. An event dedicated to the 100 best young entrepreneurs will be held in Moscow.
I will serve on the competition jury and evaluate the participants’ ideas. So in December, I will be visiting Moscow for the fifth time. I can say that with every visit, I grow fonder of your country.
