Paballo Ntobaki: Together, We Can Bridge the Digital Divide

At the 2nd Global Digital Forum, held in Moscow on October 8–10, IT experts, scientists, and public figures from more than 100 countries discussed prospects for technological, scientific, and social partnerships.

One outcome of such meetings was the signing of a memorandum of intent by representatives of research organizations. The document is intended to support continued joint research and efforts to find solutions to challenges shared by BRICS countries.

Paballo Ntobaki, a representative of the University of South Africa, spoke to the IT Russia media platform about the goals of this cooperation and ways to bridge the digital divide between countries.

– We did sign a memorandum of intent today to continue our joint research projects. We would like to work together to address the challenges currently facing BRICS countries. There are, of course, various economic and marketing considerations, as well as the problem of the digital divide, in which some countries are ahead of others in digital development. We would like to explore ways to solve these problems together.

Through cooperation among BRICS countries, we can help more developed countries support less developed ones in bridging the digital divide. In particular, we need to share information and make it more transparent. Only then will we be able to narrow the digital divide together.
