Russia Establishes Presidential AI Commission
The new body will oversee the integration of artificial intelligence across key sectors of the economy.

Russia has formally created a Commission on the Development of Artificial Intelligence Technologies under the president. The decree was signed by President Vladimir Putin. The commission will assess risks and opportunities associated with AI and promote its deployment across multiple areas of the economy. Authorities plan to expand the use of AI in public administration, the social sector, and national security.
The commission includes heads of relevant federal ministries, representatives of the Federal Security Service and the Defense Ministry, leaders of AI-advanced regions – Moscow and the Moscow Region – as well as executives from major IT companies, along with the president’s special envoy and aide.
AI Development at the Regional Level
Advancing technological leadership remains one of the country’s top priorities. Speaking at the State Council, Putin described the current transformation as unprecedented in scale. He said Russia must fully develop and deploy artificial intelligence as a breakthrough, cross-cutting technology.
Several Russian regions have already begun drafting their own AI development strategies.
