Forensic units within Russia’s Interior Ministry are increasingly using artificial intelligence technologies in criminal investigations.
According to Kazmin, algorithms are now used to handle large datasets and verify information against forensic records. AI analyzes entries in the central fingerprint database and helps accelerate the search for matches.

Interior Ministry units are also receiving high-precision analytical instruments manufactured in Russia. The new equipment complements traditional forensic methods and expands laboratory capabilities.

The ministry is also considering expanding the use of unmanned systems. Drones and robotic platforms make it possible to conduct inspections in hard-to-reach or hazardous areas, including sites of industrial accidents.
Remote inspection technologies can document scenes in adverse weather conditions, saving time and protecting personnel. Taken together, artificial intelligence, 3D modeling, and unmanned platforms are reshaping the digital landscape of forensic science.
