KBSU Develops Exercise System That Adapts to Body and Brain

Kabardino-Balkarian State University has developed an exercise system with feedback that monitors a person’s physical condition while providing cognitive challenges.

Sensors track heart rate, breathing rate and blood oxygen levels, while artificial intelligence monitors exercise technique. If the user becomes tired or performs an exercise incorrectly, the software reduces the workload, helping prevent overtraining and injuries.

The system’s key feature is its combination of physical exercise and cognitive development. Workouts take place in a virtual environment: a person riding a stationary bike travels across rugged terrain, with pedal resistance increasing on uphill sections, while overcoming obstacles requires solving a logic problem.

The new system can also help parents choose a suitable sport for their child.

“At an early stage, the ‘smart exercise system’ analyzes a child’s aptitude for different types of physical activity and helps map out a development path. This will save parents time and money while sparing children from disappointment,” the university’s press service said.

The software has already received state registration.
